Chocolate Cake Protein Milkshake

Make this delicious, decadent milkshake post-workout or between meals on busy days to feel replenished, satisfied, and to curb your chocolate cravings!

This is more than a protein shake... it's a protein milkshake, and it will spark a new motivation for you to work out. If you're like me and crave something cold, tasty, and satisfying after exercising, this recipe is right up your alley - make it after your next burn session and you'll be feeling right as rain!

I was never a huge fan of protein shakes, to be honest. The flavor and texture of the protein powders I tried were chalky, bland, or way too artificial tasting. Plus, I never felt great after drinking them for some reason. I always felt super full, the last thing you want to feel after a hard workout.

Somehow within the past few years I stumbled upon my now go-to post-workout powder, which is actually a meal replacement powder, but it doubles as a protein powder. It's got ingredients in it you wouldn't expect, like vegetables (tomato, broccoli, carrot), a variety of protein blends (pea, buckwheat, amaranth) and raw organic greens (spirulina, wheatgrass, alfalfa).

Because it's a meal replacement, I typically use half a scoop in my smoothies, but when I use it as a protein shake, I do a full scoop since I'm usually between meals at that point. In my research, I haven't found another plant-based powder that boasts this variety of raw, nutritional ingredients, tastes as good as it does, and doubles as a meal replacement in case I'm running behind on time!

This Chocolate Cake Protein Milkshake is:

Step 2. Blend on high for 30-45 seconds, or until fully incorporated. Pour and serve immediately.
